Opal-RT Teams with Tesis to Bring Engine Simulation to Real-Time
|
Companies collaborate to present demonstrations of Tesis enDyna models simulated in Real-Time on Opal-RT's RT-LAB simulation platform May 5, 2008 - Montreal, QuebecOpal-RT Technologies Inc. (www.opal-rt.com) today anounced that the company has teamed with Tesis DYNAware to demonstrate real-time simulation of Tesis enDyna models on Opal-RT's RT-LAB Real-Time Simulation platform. The demonstrations are occurring on the Opal-RT / B2i Automotive Engineering booth (Booth #1376) at this week's Automotive Testing Expo - Europe, taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, from May 6th to May 8th. Opal-RT Technologies is a leading provider of Real-Time Simulation, Rapid Control Prototyping, Hardware-in-the-Loop and ECU testing products. Engineers at major auto manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers including Toyota, Renault Nissan, GM, Delphi, Visteon, and Ford rely on Opal-RT products for the design and test of electromechanical, electric, hybrid, and power electronic systems. Fully integrated with the MATLAB/Simulink environment, Opal-RT Real-Time simulators are based on affordable and scalable commercial off the shelf multi-core processors and IO, and take full advantage of FPGA technology to provide high fidelity simulation of power electronic systems. TESIS DYNAware is the independent expert team for vehicle simulation in real-time. For more than 15 years the automotive industry has been employing TESIS DYNAware's simulation models for controller and components development. enDYNA is the professional software environment for real-time simulation of combustion engines. enDYNA supports the complete development process of electronic control units in model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop applications including:
"Tesis Dynaware has a strong history of providing the automotive industry with high quality vehicle simulation models for controller and component development," said Jean Belanger, President and Co-Founder of Opal-RT Technologies Inc. "By strengthening Opal-RT's partnership with Tesis DYNAware, automotive manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers can benefit from a best-of-breed simulation solution that allows for real-time simulation of ECUs earlier in the design porocess, thereby saving the design engineer valuable time and costs." The demonstration taking place at Automotive Testing Expo-Europe involves real-time simulation of an enDYNA V6 SI engine model running on Opal-RT's RT-LAB-based eDRIVEsim Real-Time Simulator. This includes modeling of the exhaust gas system, drivetrain, and vehicle electrical system. When simulated in such a manner, the model can then interfaced with real hardware, such as ECUs, sensors, and throttle body. In this demonstration the model is interfaced with a virtual ECU, also modeled in the native Simulink environment. In addition, muliple engine parameters are tuneable during real-time runs. Opal-RT Real-Time Simulators are available from Opal-RT distributors in Europe including B2i Automotive Engineering (www.b2i-automotive.com) , based in Paris, France. About eDRIVEsim Real-Time Simulator Launched in mid-2007 by Opal-RT, eDRIVEsim combines Opal-RT's RT-LAB real-time technology with affordable, high performance multi-core X86 processors and FPGA I/O products, making it the ideal Real-Time platform for designing advanced control systems and performing HIL testing of controllers used in high-speed electric motors, power converters, and hybrid drives. eDRIVEsim also includes support for RTLAB.JMAG™, which combines Opal-RT's RT-LAB real-time simulation technology with JMAG-RT®, part of JRI Solutions' Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tool suite. This means that all tests can be performed in Real-Time, using high precision finite element models. |
