41-bus HVAC/HVDC Network

This model demonstrates the capacity of eMEGAsim to simulate large-scale power systems in real time. A typical 500 kV transport network consisting HVAC and HVDC systems is modeled and simulated.

The power system in this model is a 500 kV 60Hz network, consisting 41 buses, 70 distribution lines, 11 plants (including hydraulic generation turbine, synchronous machines and regulators), 15 loads, and 3 HVDC lines. Models of Synchronous machine, transformer, Artemis distributed parameter line, load, thyristor rectifier/inverter, and controllers of generators and HVDC, are included in this model.

This model gives steady state and fault transient of this system. Four types of HVAC fault, namely bus grounding, line grounding, line open, and generator loss, and two types of HVDC faults, namely dc bus grounding, and ac bus grounding at inverter side, can be applied to the system. For each ac fault type, one-, two-, or three-phase fault can be selected. Other phenomena, such as system instability, islanding, and resonance, can be study and validate with this model.
